Episode 44 of the Mix Tape Radio show went up on the interwebs last week (listen to it here if you haven't already and/or grab it over on iTunes as well), and today I continue the task of briefly talking a little bit about each of the tracks that were featured on it.
So without further ado-ing, Here's 3 more of the 18 tracks featured on Episode 044…
If you've only recently got into Gorgeous Bully, it's pretty likely that you were only partly aware of how great they were. You see, a bunch of excellent early releases disappeared off the internet a little while back, slightly disguising just how many great tunes they've been responsible for. Luckily for anyone that wasn't down with GB from the get go, they've just put out an ace collection of new & old recordings to dive into. So go dive into them. And then cross your fingers that they'll be putting together another similar collection, as there are even more gems from their back catalogue that never made it onto 'Smiling, Laughing' (for example: Devil Woman).
The Golden Dregs are fast becoming one of my favourite bands discoveries of 2014. Not only have I yet to hear a track online that I didn't more than really like, I was also sent a sneak peak of their upcoming album from that good looking bully mentioned above, and it's going to be a beauty of a record. I'm not sure when that full length will drop, so for now, go grab this excellent compilation from 80N7 (which features a bunch of great tunes) and then go spend some time on The Golden Dregs Bandcamp page doing a little prep work before their album comes out.
There are not too many negatives that come from getting to take a 2 week vacation in Tenerife followed by a 1 week vacation in Barcelona. But in my case, there was one. And that was having to miss out on the Allah-Las concert in Nottingham last month because I had to work the night of the concert and couldn't really get somebody else to cover for me because it fell in between already getting people to cover for me on my two vacations. Life always finds a way to be a bitch.
If you haven't already, you should totally give these 3 tracks (and the albums they come from) your ears at some point today / this week. Maybe even a bit of your wallet. And while we're listing things you should do if you haven't already, you should probably also go listen to the episode that these tracks feature on. Yeah? Yeah.
