Episode 46 of the Mix Tape Radio show went up online two Mondays ago (and it made it all the way to #1 in the Folk, Indie, & Alternative charts on Mixcloud!), and today I continue my 'a few tracks at a time' ramblings about the 18 tracks that were featured. So if you got a moment, take a moment and give a listen to these three beauties…
|| (00:05:04) Thrupence - Tantrum ||
Thrupence's latest album is 17 tracks worth of headphone treats… but you can only sample three of them on his Bandcamp page. And it's not available on any of those streaming sites (at least not for me in the UK). So, if you don't want to take my word that its an excellent use of 7 Australian dollars, I suggest you first press play on the track I've embedded above, and then pop over to Bandcamp and listen to the 3 tracks available to sample. And if that doesn't leave you itching to hear the other 13 tracks, I don't know, maybe make sure your headphones are plugged in and try those steps again.
In case you didn't know, before Uncle Rico, there was Me And The Horse I Rode In On. So if you're listening to Henry's latest album and thinking “I wish there was some more”, jump back a few years and dig into the excellent EPs that laid the groundwork for what you hear on 'The Father, The Son & The Broken Dream'.
These girls from Madrid have probably gone from the bedroom to the buzz room faster than anyone else in 2014. Unless you can think of someone else who dropped two undeniably catchy lofi jams one month and then opened for The Libertines in Paris a few months later. I can't. Well, they're back with two more undeniably catchy lofi jams. So it would probably be a safe bet that the pretty much vertical rise of Deers will keep on climbing in 2015.
Alright, that's it from me for today. If you made it down here without pushing play or clicking on any of the things above, you should probably head back up and correct that. Maybe even buy the artists a metaphorical pint if you like what you hear. And while we're listing things you should do if you haven't already, you should also probably go listen to the episode that these tracks feature on. And then I'll be back to talk about the remaining 6 songs from the episode that I haven't already talked about.
