Episode 44: A Singer Of Songs / Sea Oleena / SALES

Trying to half-ass keep up with the pace of the internet has finally wore me out. And if it has worn me out, I can't even imagine what folks with a more normal 'need for new music' have been feeling. So I'm gonna be slowing my roll a bit. Every 2nd Monday, I'll continue to post an episode of the Mix Tape Radio show (Episode 44 being the latest one). Then I'll spend the next 2 weeks slowly highlighting the tracks that were featured in that mix tape (as opposed to the old plan of immediately trying to think of even more music to try and talk about).

Which should work out to me quietly shouting about 18 tracks every two weeks (all the while, updating and improving the 24hr internet stream). That seems like plenty. Maybe even too much still. I guess we'll see. But for now, here are 3 of those tracks…

You know, I almost was one of the people going “woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah woah” on this track. But my shitty microphone went from shitty to not working, and Lieven ended up having to scrap the idea of getting friends from around the world to be his drunken choir to friends close enough that he could record them himself. So now I just walk around with this on my headphones and “woah woah” along with it, pretending that I actually am on the record. You should go get it and do the same. Even if you don't want to “woah woah”, the entire album is great and contains some of A Singer Of Songs best work to date.

SALES has been dropping ace single after ace single for about a year… and now all those ace singles (+ a couple more) have been put together into an ace EP. If you haven't already, you should go snag it now.

“Hey, the song in the above player isn't the track you featured on Episode 44!”. Very observant of you. The thing is, even though Shallow has now been officially released, you can only sample one track on Bandcamp. It's an excellent track (and one that was featured in Episode 43), but 'Everyone WIth Eyes Closed' is locked behind doors. Well, locked behind doors on Bandcamp, but you can go sample the whole thing on Spotify. Although, you don't really need to sample more than the 1st track to know that this album is a beauty and should be added to your collection. So maybe go do that, yeah?

If you haven't already, you should totally give these 3 albums your ears at some point this week. Maybe even a bit of your wallet. And if you haven't already as well, go listen to the episode that these tracks feature on.
