Sometimes, a certain line from a song jumps out to you. It doesn't necessarily mean that it is a necessarily clever line… but there is just something special about it. 'Hey Man, Nice Line' is where I briefly ramble about some of the lines that have jumped out to me. This is another one of those lines.
I probably couldn't pin down exactly why I think this line is so great, but I think it has something to do with my relationship with both Jesus and cigarettes. And it probably doesn't hurt that this line is found in one of my favourite songs of all-time.
I guess the line is sort of in the same ball park as the old “I found Jesus, he was hiding behind the couch the whole time” gag, and lets be honest, that was a pretty fun gag the first time you heard it. Who doesn't like personifying Jesus as the sort of guy that hides behind couches and smokes your cigarettes with you but never actually buys any, because, you know, he's “trying to quit”?
Ahh… Jesus. What a character.
