LAPD has been dropping wonderful slices of bedroom fuzz on the internet for a little while now (like these) and each time he's done so, it has reinforced the thought (at least in me) that: “there's eventually gonna be a pretty sweet album coming from this dude”. Well, replace “eventually” with "September 2nd”, because the latest headphone treat from Ryan Pollie (which you can download for free over on Soundcloud) came wrapped up in an official release date.
Fancy cassettes? Then swing by Chill Mega Chill to pre-order. Fancy vinyl? Well, then swing by Forged Artifacts to pre-order. Live in Europe and are usually scared off from ordering a sweet physical version of an album because of crazy ass postal prices? Well then, swing by Gold Flake Tapes and order from there. That's right… because the internet is pretty sweet (if used correctly), some cool independent labels from different parts of the globe have joined forces to tag team LAPD's debut full-length. Which is pretty cool and hopefully a new trend on the rise.
I'm hoping someone will also have the album available on Bandcamp as 'digital only', as my eventual move away from England in the not too distant future has got me a little wary of buying vinyl (and my lack of something that plays cassettes makes me a little wary of buying even more cassettes). Although, truth be told, I probably will be buying the vinyl off GFT (although I really hope Tom is reading this and will make things available on Bandcamp as well ;).
Because I can tell already that this is going to be one of my favourite albums of 2014 (and holy shit… have you seen how many great albums are set to be released this September?!).
