A bit of sad news for you all… this is the last episode of 'Mix Tape Radio On Folk Radio UK' :(
But before you go drown your sorrows in a bottle of something strong, it's not as sad as it sounds. I'll keep on making these 'Mix Tape Radio' mix tapes in basically the same fashion (i.e. every couple of weeks, and you'll still be able to listen on Mixcloud & download on iTunes), the only real change is that the show will no longer be a part of Folk Radio UK anymore (i.e. it won't be going up on their Mixcloud page anymore).
Why? Well, as some of you may remember, this show first started as a 1 hour segment on Folk Radio UK's 24hr internet stream. But after some changes to how Folk Radio UK ran their 24hr internet stream a few months ago, there was no more 1 hour segments to fill. So, in the midst of those changes, it was decided to keep doing these shows and just post directly to FRUK's Mixcloud page while they transitioned into a new set up. Well, the transition period is over, and Alex and I agreed that maybe it doesn't make sense to keep doing a HI54LOFI show on a FRUK account. But rather than just cutting the chord unannounced, we figured we'd do one last show. And this is it…
I thought about making a 'goodbye songs' themed show, but that seemed a bit dramatic. So I've basically put together this last episode the same way I've put together all the other ones… a bunch of good songs that (hopefully) flow nicely into the next. Of course, I couldn't help bookending the episode with 2 'goodbye songs', but hey, it is the last episode after all.
So like the opening track says so perfectly, “Maybe, baby, we'll meet again someday. Or we won't”. But I hope we will. And you can make sure that happens by following the HI54LOFI Mixcloud page & subscribing to this show on iTunes, as well liking HI54LOFI on Facebook & following on Twitter. The 'Mix Tape Radio' show will go on (just not on FRUK anymore… which probably means they'll veer even further from the 'folk' genre then they already do).
Thanks to everyone for listening and cheers to Alex for letting me tap into his lovely listeners ear drums for 31 episodes + one more…

Or, swing by iTunes and download the last 31 shows (Episode 31 will go up on iTunes in the next week or so… so it wouldn't be a bad idea to click the subscribe button while you're there, no?). And of course, there is also the 24hr stream of tunes that is the Mix Tape Radio internet radio station (where, at some point, you'll hear most of these songs + a whole bunch of others in the pretty big and always getting bigger rotation of quality tuneage).
Finally, please remember to remember the following: music makes all our lives a bit more bearable, but the continued making of that music requires all us listeners to give a little love back (whether that be by buying what we like or even just the simple act of spreading the word / letting the artist know how much you dig it). Anything beyond silent appreciation goes a long way.
