[ps this post is from 2014, but the same thing applies to this year]
If you're like me and live in a different city / country / continent from most of your friends and family, and/or if you're also like me and have procrastinated Christmas shopping to the point where it is now impossible for anything to arrive in time, and/or if you're like me and the thought of spending a minute in a mall or department store on the last two days before Jesus' Birthday sends a cold shiver down your spine… well you're not fucked just yet.
Awhile back, Bandcamp made it possible to digitally send music to someone else as a gift. All you need is that person's email address. There's no postage. There's no waiting in lines. The gift arrives instantly and you don't become that guy that forgot to get EVERYBODY something.
If you're stuck for ideas on which music to gift, or don't know where to start… you could do worse than filtering your options down to these gems. Or these 280 beauties from the year that almost is a was. Or have a poke around on the Bandcamp homepage.
And remember, a person doesn't need to have a Bandcamp Fan Account for you to send them a gift. In fact, if they don't, you might just be introducing them to that whole world of Music Feeds and Bandcamp App and Fan Accounts… so multiple present points earned for you to cash in some other time. And on top of all of that, you're even sending an artist a little joy as well. Someone's starting to sound like the hero in Dickens' novel.
Anyways, that's officially it from me for the year. Have yourselves a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year… and I'll internet with you again in 2015!
