Awhile back, I posted a video for an undeniably catchy track called 'Girlfriend', from Brooklyn via New Zealand newcomers Streets Of Laredo. If you missed that post, I also included the track in a favourite tracks of 2012 mix tape. And this episode of 'Mix Tape Radio On FRUK'. And even a Spotify playlist. I also know a bunch of other people expressed their immediate liking of the track. And I think I saw on Twitter that it was even used in a New Zealand airline commercial.
Basically… by now, we've all heard and know how great that track is, right? And because of that shared opinion, I think it's safe to assume that we've all been waiting for some more from them.
Well, good news. The makers of that ear worm have just made their first EP —5 great tracks, including the already mentioned 'Girlfriend'— available to download for free (or if you're feeling friendly… you can also buy it on Bandcamp). All you have to do to get it for free is pop over to their website and grab it (well, you'll have to surrender your email address, but that seems like a fair deal + a great way to be reminded when Volume 2 is out).
And if by this sentence you still have never heard 'Girlfriend', then I suggest you don't go listen to it yet (or, rather, don't go listen to it first). Instead, get the whole EP and press play at the beginning and prepare yourself for the extreme sugar rush that will be coming for you at the EP's midpoint. Because it really is a lovely little collection of tunes, and I kind of envy those of you who get to go into it blind. Well, not literally blind, of course. Just not having already played a certain track 100's of times already.
