A Fleetwood Mac cover album recently came out, but this track is not from that (on the Mac cover album, The Kills cover 'Dreams'). I've got nothing against The Kills version (it is very 'killsy' / fine), but it doesn't hold a flame to this version by The Morning Benders.
I should probably note that The Morning Benders are no longer called The Morning Benders. They are now called Pop Etc. (which is kind of a bad band name… although musically they kind of changed gears too, so maybe the name matches the new sound).
Their reasoning for changing names?
I can see the logic behind the thinking. Personally, I always associated there name with the other meaning for bender, which is - at least in Canada - a bit of booze and/or drug fuelled couple days. You know, a 'bender'.
The other thing that comes to mind here is how it is mildly ironic that the double meaning and possible offensiveness of the word 'bender' was brought to their attention while in the UK… where people still call cigarettes 'fags'.
But I digress.
You can read the full statement about their name change on the now defunct The Morning Benders website.
