What's a DIYtrotter Session? Well, it is basically the following equation:
take how much I love Daytrotter (and then minus) me not having a studio that people can visit (and then multiply that by) how many great artists out there have the capabilities of doing their own sessions (and then you just times everything by the factor of internet)
When you do the math, you can see how a pretty great thing can be created. The artists get to record some of their songs in the comfort (or discomfort) of their familiar surroundings. No travel is needed, so it doesn't matter how remote and isolate you are in the world (physically or metaphorically). And then we pop it up on Bandcamp for anyone anywhere to stream / download it for free (and you'll also find some of the tracks on episodes of the 'Mix Tape Radio Show' as well as in our 24hr internet radio stream).
I'm hoping to have sessions in the 3-5 song range and it would be nice to have them every two weeks, but I don't know if that will be possible (update: it totally wasn't possible).
SIDE NOTE: as you can see, these sessions used to be called 'Bedroom Sessions', but, as you can also see, they are now called DIYtrotter Sessions. This is mostly because not all of the sessions were recorded in a bedroom, but also because DIYtrotter is a better description of what the session are and more clever (clever in a ‘bordering on copyright infringement’ way).
(click on a cover to listen to / read more about that session)
(you can also listen to all the tracks from all the sessions in this one handy little Songdrop mix)
If you're interested in doing a bedroom session, shoot an email to jeremy [at] hi54lofi [dot] com and let me know why you think you'd be a great fit (I try my best to listen to everything and get back to people, but sometimes it can take me a little while).
